Hello and welcome…
to The Sugarcraft School with Rachel Hanna.
You may know me best as the face behind Marie Antoinette Cake Design. For the last ten years or so, I’ve been designing and creating bespoke, fine art wedding cakes for my amazing couples, carving out my own unique style and niche.
I started teaching Sugarcraft back in 2018 with small, in person classes at my studio and tutorials in-print for popular cake decorating magazines.
I also had the immense pleasure of collaborating with a wonderfully talented group of international cake artists in the book Designer Cake Decorating.
Since 2020, The Sugarcraft School went online and became a huge focus, with the launch of the Facebook Group as well as being a regular guest tutor with Sugar & Crumbs.
Currently I offer tuition via private one to one in-person classes only but you can still find my free content on YouTube and in my Facebook Group.

“The expert in anything was once a beginner”
In 2021, our YouTube Channel launched to provide shorter, more focused free tutorials for the wider audience and is building up a loyal subscriber base.
The Facebook Group has grown beyond my hopes to become not only a space for me to connect with students but also for them to connect with each other. This sense of community is something I’ve nurtured from the beginning.
I’m incredibly proud of the kind and supportive community that has emerged, with cake decorating enthusiasts of all levels, from all over the world, helping, supporting, encouraging and connecting with one another.
It’s an incredibly warm, safe place with a huge amount of cake decorating & business content provided by me but also, ongoing support between members as they continue onwards through their own journeys.
My Approach
I’m incredibly open in my Facebook Group and with my students. I often do “ask me anything” Live Q&A’s in the group and am always honest about the realities of my own experiences and describe myself as an “open book”.
With a degree in Business and ten years in the wedding cake industry, I’m in a really solid position to offer advice and guidance to both hobbyists and those who choose cake decorating as a source of income. I want people to benefit from the lessons I’ve learned and the mistakes I’ve made. It’s great that I can now provide people with the support that I would have loved to have when I first started.
I’m extremely passionate about helping and supporting others, being respectful of others and their boundaries, having professional courtesy for others, and treating people as I would want to be treated.
I’m also a huge advocate for cake decorators pricing correctly, raising their prices and earning a fair wage for their time, effort and skills and talk about this often in my group.
It’s so incredibly rewarding to see my students grow, not only in their skills but in their confidence too. Seeing someone have that light bulb moment where everything changes and they have the confidence to make changes so that their business works for them and allows them to have a career they love, yet facilitates the life they want, is just priceless.

What’s next for The Sugarcraft School?
I’m currently taking some time away from creating new classes and courses for The Sugarcraft School so am only offering in-person private classes on a one-to-one basis. I have always found, as a student and as a teacher that this is an extremely effective way to learn and each class is perfectly tailored to each student’s precise needs. This makes it a really cost effective way of investing your money and time as you get so much more out of a class. Please do get in touch if you’d like to discuss a possible private class.
If you’re signed up to the Newsletter, I’ll be starting a series of slighter longer than usual Monthly emails, discussing specific topics and opening up discussions about common challenges and obstacles that we can face.
